Power System Design Engineer

Position Description
We are seeking a Power System Design Engineer to join our Power Systems Organization

The engineer’s primary role is the design development and/or review of consultant design submittals for compliance with company and industry standards, ensuring reliability, safety and cost optimization targets.

Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree in power system analysis is preferred.

You will have at least eight years experience in designing major power system supplies of medium to high voltage, including power plants, bulk substations and transmission lines.

A certificate of professional training for system modeling is preferred.

You will be proficient in both ANSI and IEC standards and the use of industry proven system modeling software.

Relevant O&M field experience is highly desirable.

Duties & Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:
- Prepare and or validate system design models using various industry programs.
- Calculate power system performance parameters, such as faults, load flow, voltage drop and system stability, etc.
- Support the construction and pre-commissioning of the power supply facilities.
- Contribute to standards review and value engineering studies.
- Review and approve major power equipment selection, factory acceptance testes and review all related NMRs.
- Participate in power system reliability studies and equipment life-cycle management programs.
