POWER SYSTEM FIELD ENGINEER
Position Description
We are seeking a Power System Field Engineer to join our Power Systems Organization
The field engineer’s primary role is the technical supervision of O&M activities performed by electric system operators and technicians on all types of power equipment for bulk and small distribution substations
Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree with emphasis on power system analysis is preferred.
You will have at least five years experience as a field engineer in the operation and maintenance of a large network of power systems comprising equipment of mixed technologies, manufacturers, voltage levels and configurations.
Significant experience in any of the equipment of major power systems, such as relay and system protection, switchgear, transformers,
overhead-lines and cables including submarine is required.
You will also be able to demonstrate familiarity with the design fundamentals of major power system supply facilities.
You will be proficient in both NEC, ANSI and IEC
Duties & Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
- Lead power system reliability and equipment lifecycle management studies.
- Prepare and or validate operation switching methods and practices, and integrated maintenance programs comprising preventive, predicative and reliability centered maintenance, to achieve the right mix in terms of effectiveness and cost.
- Perform daily O&M quality assessment and safety compliance audits and lead pr- commissioning activities.
- Investigate equipment failure, prepare investigative reports and implement recommendations.
- Propose system upgrades, contribute to system design reviews and approve major power equipment selection, factory acceptance tests and review all related NMRs.
- Support the development of junior engineers and assess the skills of ESOs and technicians
