Position Description
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Marine Engineer who can provide technical services to the Marine Department and other Saudi Aramco Organizations on Marine matters and problems. Successful candidate will apply expertise/background in the fields of structure and naval architecture and/or Marine systems (Marine Engineering).
The Marine Department is a vital part of Saudi Aramco's Industrial Services Organization.
The department has a reliable fleet of vessels to provide an assortment of Marine Services, to support the exploration, production and transportation of oil, in and around Saudi Aramco's offshore areas in the country of Saudi Arabia.
Marine Department provides services to offshore customers such as Tugs for Terminal, Maintenance vessels for offshore platforms, and Anchor Handling Tug Supply and Safety vessels (AHTSS) for drilling rigs, diving operations and under water repairs.
Minimum Requirements
BS Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering, preferably with valid Marine Engineer’s License (Motor). Preferably experience with EMD, CAT 3608, 3512, Voith, Lips & Schottel CPP/Azimuth drives.
Good breakdown “troubleshooting” skills and demonstrated analytical problem solving, time/project management, and decision making skills.
Thorough experience with dry docking requirements, with the ability to manage budgeting requirements.
Computer literate.
Familiarity with ABS/SOLAS/MARPOL/ISM/ISPS regulations.
Exceptional verbal and written communications in the English language, with the ability to develop, clear, concise work packages.
Seven (7) years experience in the commercial maritime industry in a shipyard or port engineering role, or ten (10) years of seagoing experience on a USCG Engineers license (or equivalent) on any horsepower motor vessel.
Experience must demonstrate ability to effectively manage and negotiate complex projects, such as shipyard dry dock overhauls and other types of repairs; practical knowledge of mechanical engineering and naval architecture principles, and practices as they pertain to offshore support vessels and familiarity with marine/mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering disciplines.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Make frequent internal contacts with representatives of served organizations, both for the purpose of defining new vessel requirements and assisting with justification development, as well as resolution of current operational problems with existing Marine vessels.
- Contact, on routine basis, with Purchasing and Material Support Departments will be required.
- Connect with Engineers in Company’s subsidiaries overseas, engineering firm consultants, equipment manufacturers and vessel builders to resolve design, technical and operating matters.
- Contact with contractors concerning contract scope, price negotiation, performance evaluation and to resolve points of disagreement on operation or costs.
- Undertake and/or coordinate assignments with minimum supervision such as the following:
a) Project Engineering: Coordinate and define new vessel building projects from concept to delivery. Responsible for the identification and integration of classification society and regulatory body requirements into both new building projects and existing vessel modifications.
b) Port Engineering: Provide a comprehensive, cost effective maintenance and repair service to various vessels within the Saudi Aramco fleet, which includes routine vessel inspections, preparation of detailed written repair specifications, labor and material estimates, and on-site inspections during refit. Provide comprehensive support in the planning and accomplishment of ship repair activities. Specific areas of responsibility will include planning, quality assurance and diagnosis, and material identification.
