Position Description
We seek an experienced Mechanical Engineering Specialist to join the Consulting Services Department (CSD). The CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations, introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards.

The Heat Transfer Systems Unit of CSD provides technical consultations on issues related to several categories of equipment and systems including:
- Heat Transfer Equipment (heat exchangers, industrial boilers, fired heaters, refractory and insulation systems).
- HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning).
- Nonelectrical Utilities Systems (industrial drainage, sanitary sewer systems and water distribution systems). It also maintains relevant mandatory Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and Material Specifications (SAES and SAMSS).
- It develops and implements company-wide technical equipment programs (Fitness for Service Assessment, Heat Exchangers Fouling and Assessment, Boiler and Fired Heater Optimization, Refractory and Insulations Integrity and company-wide CFC Refrigerant Phase Out).

Minimum Requirements
Must have a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. A candidate with an M.S. degree is preferred. Must have 15 years+ professional experience in fired heaters and boilers with broad experience in design check, performance enhancement, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of fired heaters and boilers.

Additional Needed Experience:

- Must have good experience in refractory design and installation.
- Must be up to date with the latest technologies in his field and possess the drive to implement appropriately in field operations.
- Travel is required (driving license is required), usually within Saudi Arabia although occasional international trips may also be required.
- Field work in company’s plants will be required.
- Must be able to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and also be able to pursue work independently.
- Must be willing to mentor local staff and provide training programs.
- Position is located in a central engineering group responsible for providing consultation to company’s fired heaters and boilers.
- Excellent English language writing and speaking skills and good presentation skills required.
- Excellent office computer skills required.

Duties & Responsibilities
General engineering consultancy focusing on HVAC, Plumbing and Utilities providing support to Saudi Aramco operations and occasionally to Joint Venture operations.

1. Provide consultation to field operations of Saudi Aramco plants.
2. Write company standards, procedures and best practices in his area of expertise. Serve on international standards writing bodies as the opportunity allows.
3. Provide consultation and review for capital projects reviewing engineering design packages. Attend project review meetings in or out of Kingdom as needed.
4. Develop new technologies and apply these in Saudi Aramco operations. Apply for patents when appropriate.
5. Participate in providing training courses to developing engineers. Mentor developing engineers and be prepared to share his knowledge with them. Publish technical papers.
6. Lead or be a team member in special teams and task forces, such as incident investigation teams, special audit teams, value engineering teams, organizational improvement teams, etc.

About Us
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company’s new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry.

Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities.

Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works.

E&PM also manages the Company’s Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots™) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.
