DCS Engineer

Position Description
Saudi Aramco is seeking a DCS Engineer with specialized skills support Uthmaniyah Gas Plant (UGP) Process Control Systems and Networks. The DCS Engineer must have high level of technical expertise that is needed for the advanced process control applications and computer systems at UGP. Successful engineer will serve as consultant to operations/maintenance on industrial computer system problems.

Minimum Requirements
B.S. degree in any Engineering discipline or in Computer Science (fully accredited.)
Seven years of professional experience (design and implementation, projects, review, troubleshooting and installation) in Invensys/Foxboro DCS version 7/8 nodebus and MESH systems.
Excellent command of oral and written English.
Strong working knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes.

Duties & Responsibilities
A. Prepare approvals of the problem solving report plans, schedules and provides coordination and work direction as required for the preparation of designs, processes, reports, correspondence and related data and assures the efficiency, adequacy and conformance to overall objectives of project.
B. Formulate the basis for an engineering study or project or design in any basic or special engineering field by analyzing and evaluating all data pertinent to assignment. Evaluate data as to scope, effect on existing installation, economic value, long range planning and budgetary considerations.
C. Lead and recommend new continuous improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standardization within specific fields of endeavor. Estimate costs, prepare justifications and complete expenditure requests as required.
D. Support project execution and project proposals and initiate detailed work outline and make decision as to basic processes, and/or equipment. Perform work and or delegate work to other engineers and final development of specialized or technical proposals and studies of proposed projects.
E. Discuss, coordinate and resolve problems with personnel throughout Aramco and subsidiaries and with outside of Company organizations. Act as technical consultant when required.
F. Review work of engineers directed. Check that reports are written according to established methods of good report presentation. Make recommendations for future study or report changes. Approve reports for transmittal to supervisor. Review work of third party, technology reports, and engineering standards.
G. Lead the implementation and operation of all kind of recommended solutions.
H. Plan, schedule and review work of subordinates when assigned as team leader for a specific project.
I. Formulate the basis for assigned engineering studies; initiate detailed work outline, determining basic approaches, procedures and/or equipment.
J. Provide engineering expertise and consultation to line operations and maintenance organizations for the resolution of process control system problems.
K. Develop specialized indices to aid in evaluating industrial computer systems.
L. Perform process computer engineering (hardware, software, standards, projects, systems applications, simulation) and process control related engineering analyses.
M. Implement Design Packages.
N. Train, mentor, develop and coach the new/young process control engineers.
O. Provide guidance, counsel and concurrence on function requirements and specifications, hardware/software selection, final system specification and system design, integration and testing for assigned portions of specific projects.
P. Analyze and assess the performance and capability of process computer control systems and their operation in cooperation with Operations personnel. Recommend programming changes and/or additions of software/hardware as required to meet Operations objectives.
Q. Function as site specialist engineer for the plant Foxboro I/A DCS system.
R. Assist in developing Site Engineers through hands-on formal and informal training.
S. Provide support during and after hour for addressing system problems including emergencies.
T. Review site maintenance program / procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
U. Develop and implement preventive / predictive maintenance schedules.
V. Conduct periodic health checks/reviews to ensure optimal use and optimization of the systems
W. Advise site on measures for avoiding obsolescence and recommend timely and effective upgrade options.
X. Provide support for new technology
