POWER SYSTEM AUTOMATION AND SMART GRID ENGINEER

Position Description
We are seeking a Power System Automation and Smart Grid Engineer to join our Power Systems Organization.

Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.

Your work experience will include electrical power system analysis and contro,l and or communication and networks,

You will also be able to demonstrate experience with various communication systems and protocols in particular IEC 61850, DNP and modbus.

Experience with data security systems is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:
Develop an overall execution plan for smart applications which include energy management application, demand peak control, calculation of power system performance parameters, automatic fault locations, geographic information system integration with power system status and performance, etc.

Lead substation automation implementation and any other IT tools as highlighted by the execution plan required to achieve smart grids application.

Develop data management system for effective utilization by smart grid application.

Participate in substation automation commissioning and maintenance activities and ensure integration of various IT data providers to serve the smart grid application.

Configure intelligent control devices (IEDs) including microprocessor relays and meters as required by substation automation or different clients.

Implement distributed protection and control through microprocessor relays and programmable logic controllers.

Issue relay settings and conduct site visits for troubleshooting.

Lead task force studies pertaining to the smart gird.

Generate reports and deliver presentations.

Train and mentor young engineers and develop training programs.
