Saudi Arabia's Berain Water to build UAE bottling hub in Abu Dhabi
Berain's $37m plant in Zones Corp's Al Ain Industrial City will create more than 400 jobs and open in Q1 2020
Saudi Arabia’s Berain Water will build a 36,000m2 facility in the UAE’s Al Ain Industrial City after signing an agreement with Zones Corp.
The water bottling plant, worth $37.6m (AED138m), will begin operations in Q1 2020, and produce 70,000 bottles of 200-600ml per hour, according to Berain Water’s chief executive officer, Mahdi Nasser Al-Qahtani. The plant will also be able to produce bottled water and beverages in a variety of packaging types, such as glass and plastic bottles. It will also be equipped to manufacture bottles and plastic caps.
Berain Water’s top boss added that the facility would create 424 employment opportunities across manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and sales.
“This may increase to 807 jobs within two years with the addition of new production lines in 2021, as we start exporting to the rest of the GCC region,” he continued.
“We are happy to announce the investment […] with the complete support of the Abu Dhabi Government and Zones Corp.”
Berain’s investment underscores Abu Dhabi’s growth as a hub for food manufacturing, supported by its location and logistics networks. Saeed Eisa Eisa Mohammed Al Khyeli, director general of Zones Corp, said the partnership with Berain also highlighted the UAE and Saudi Arabia’s strong historic relations.
“Our partnership with Berain Water demonstrates the level of support we can provide companies from Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region in expanding their businesses into the UAE market,” he continued, according to UAE state news agency, Wam.
“We are pleased and proud that Berain Water has chosen Zones Corp as its partner, and look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
