Pinsent Masons strengthens Dubai disputes team with DWF hire
Construction advisory and disputes team legal director Faisal Attia has more than 17 years experience in construction disputes
Law firm Pinsent Masons has strengthened its Dubai-based team, hiring Faisal Attia from rival firm DWF as legal director for its construction advisory and disputes team.
Attia brings more than 17 years of “practical experience” in resolving construction disputes, Pinsent Masons said.
He has worked with multiple international legal corporations, providing professional legal expertise and strategic advice for a number of high-profile clients across the Middle East and North Africa, the firm added.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Attia worked as director at DWF between February 2016 and April 2019, working at UAE-based law firm Al Tamimi & Company for more than four years before that.
Prior to relocating to Dubai, Attia worked in London and Kuwait for a number of renowned institutions, representing Egypt's government as a state counsel in high-value construction and investor-state disputes, and international arbitral proceedings.
“[Attia’s] impressive experience across the legal landscape will enable us to further strengthen our offerings across a breadth of areas,” said Mark Raymont, partner and head of the Middle East Construction Disputes team at Pinsent Masons.
“The UAE’s construction sector is evolving at a rapid pace, and we are determined to continue to grow our team, with the best regional talent, to offer excellent legal services to all of our clients across the infrastructure and energy sectors.”
The hire comes amid a flurry of activity in the region’s legal sector over the past 12 months.
September 2018 saw Sachin Kerur, Pinsent Masons’s head of the Middle East region assume the role of office managing partner for Reed Smith Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Michelle Nelson, also from Pinsent Masons, joined Reed Smith’s Dubai-based international arbitration team at the same time.
