Empower to complete $6.8m network extension by end 2019

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has awarded a $6.8m (AED25m) contract for the extension of its cooling service pipeline network in a bid to meet the increasing demand for district cooling services across various development projects in Dubai, with the extension set to be completed at the end of 2019.

The company said that the project will connect Al Wasl Tower 2020 and the Yotel Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, The Address Hotel and the One JBR Tower in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Barsha Heights with Empower’s permanent cooling plants. 

According to UAE’s state-owned news agency Wam, Empower revealed that the cooling pipe network for Dubai Arena will be extended to serve Al Wasl Tower 2020 with a capacity of 3,900 RT, and Yotel Hotel with 1,500 RT capacity. The network will be connected to Empower’s permanent cooling plant in Business Bay.

Additionally, the pipe network at Barsha Heights will be extended for new buildings and will be connected to the permanent plant in Barsha.

Meanwhile, The Address Hotel will be connected with 6,500 RT, and the One JBR Tower with 1,550 RT through the existing pipe network at JBR.

Speaking about the project, chief executive officer of Empower, Ahmad Bin Shafar, said that the projects will be linked using latest technology, which will help in uninterrupted delivery of services.
