Rixos Hotels to operate its largest all-inclusive resort in Egypt by 2020
The Rixos Hurghada Makadi Bay property will have 1,636 rooms and involves the renovation of an existing property
Rixos Hotels is set to expand its footprint across the MENA region after agreeing to manage the Rixos Hurghada Makadi Bay on Egypt’s Red Sea Riveira.
Scheduled to open in 2020, the hotel will have a capacity for 1,636 rooms and will be Rixos’ largest all-inclusive luxury resort across its global portfolio.
The deal is in collaboration with the Eastern Company for Investment and Touristic Development, which involves renovating the existing beachfront property.
The renovation of the development in Makadi Bay will be phased in two stages, each spanning a year, with phase one already in progress.
Rixos said when phase one is complete, the property will officially launch and will feature 815 keys including villas, 12 F&B outlets, as well as a beach lounge, amongst other facilities.
Phase two of the renovation plan will “start as soon as the property opens its doors” and will include a 23,000m² water park, as well as upgrades to the remaining hotel inventory.
Commenting on the project, Rixos Hotels founder and chairman Fettah Tamince said: “This marks a pivotal moment in the growth story of our brand, bringing to market our largest resort globally and offering our most comprehensive range of facilities and unique and dynamic entertainment experiences yet.”
