Abu Dhabi's DoT to showcase road network model to the world
Department of Transport will host the World Road Congress Abu Dhabi 2019 along with the World Road Association
Abu Dhabi’s Department for Transport (DoT) will present its model of standardising the UAE’s roads including management, planning, design, and construction at the World Road Congress Abu Dhabi, which will run from 6 to 10 October, 2019.
The DoT has developed more than 25,000km of integrated highways and road networks in Abu Dhabi and said the department "overcame challenges" from past experiences, including the quality of materials.
To date, the DoT has published 37 manuals that focus on the management, design, as well as constructions of the roads. Over the years, DoT has installed more than 110 variable and permanent display signs, over 600 CCTV cameras, and 70 video wall screens in Abu Dhabi.
The department's award-winning project, which was approved by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, has been adopted as the mandatory guide for all construction projects in the emirate.
As part of its integrated road infrastructure, the UAE capital has offered a platform that has helped easy road access to neighbouring countries including Oman and Saudi Arabia, as well as Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
With the World Road Congress Abu Dhabi 2019 — which will be held for the first time in the Middle East — less than two months away, the DoT, which is hosting the event along with the World Road Association (PIARC) under the theme of 'Connecting Cultures, Enabling Economies' will discuss about road safety.
