Arabtec appoints former DBB GM as group chief operating officer

Wail Farsakh has delivered civil, marine, roads, retail, residential, and hospitality projects in his career spanning 33 years

Dubai-listed contractor Arabtec Holding has appointed Wail Farsakh, former general manager of UAE-based civil engineering, building and marine contractor, Dutco Balfour Beatty (DDB Contracting), as the company’s group chief operating officer.

Announcing his appointment in a stock market filing the company said that, Farsakh, is a bachelor and master in civil engineering from University of Iowa, has over 33 years of experience in the UAE.

Farsakh began his career as a structural engineer, and has delivered civil, marine, roads, retail, residential, and hospitality projects. He holds an MBA from Bradford University.

Speaking at Farsakh’s appointment, group chief executive officer of Arabtec, Peter Pollard, said: “Wail’s track record demonstrates he is prepared to make the long-term commitment needed to build a sustainable business.

His experience across most contracting sectors will be important to integrating the group’s operating companies into a more seamless contracting business,” Pollard added.
