More than 40 Chinese representatives participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Chinese lantern-inspired pavilion – named Light of China – within the Opportunity district.

Under the theme of “Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind – Innovation and Opportunity”, the China pavilion covers an area of 4,636m2, making it one of the largest pavilions across the entire site.

China Pavilion will highlight the country’s scientific and technological achievements in the fields of information, science and technology, and transportation, including 5G technology, artificial intelligence, and the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.

The architect involved with the pavilion is Construction Engineering Design Group Corporation Limited.

Among the Chinese representatives present was the commissioner general of the China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Zhang Shenfeng, who said the groundbreaking ceremony of China Pavilion marks a “critical stage” of comprehensive construction.

“China's participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai in a high-quality manner is an important practice to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of our two countries,” said Shenfeng during his speech.

“It is hoped that the construction units of China Pavilion will ensure the quality in accordance with the engineering requirements and strive to complete the work as soon as possible.”
