KSA’s AMAALA names Foster + Partners as architecture advisor
Foster + Partners will be responsible for sustainable design solutions across AMAALA’s masterplans and projects
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund-backed gigaproject, AMAALA, has named UK-based architectural and design firm Fosters + Partners as the architecture advisor of the development.
As part of the appointment, Foster + Partners will be responsible for the design across AMAALA’s trio of communities - Triple Bay, The Island, and The Coastal Development.
The development of AMAALA is being rolled out across three key phases and is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda.
AMAALA chief executive officer Nicholas Naples said there was a “natural synergy” with Foster + Partners, whose ongoing commitment towards sustainability and green projects is aligned with its ethos and commitment.
Also commenting on the appointment, Foster + Partners senior partner Stuart Latham said: “The ambition and scale of the project [AMAALA] is striking, and we’re excited to help the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with its vision for an unforgettable luxury experience which acknowledges the sensitive nature and ecological significance of the site for tourists from across the globe.”
Fosters + Partners were also awarded the design contract for the Red Sea Project’s international airport in October 2019.
