Podcast: Samana Developers to focus on resort-style living
EXCLUSIVE: Alan James Gammon, the firm's general manager, speaks to CW about its efforts to build sustainable communities
Dubai-based real estate developer, Samana Developers' general manager, Alan James Gammon, discussed its upcoming project Samana Golf Avenue as well as the developer's focus on sustainability and resort-style living, among other topics, during the latest episode of the Construction Week Viewpoint podcast.
Listen to the entire conversation here.
Earlier this year, the developer revealed that it will provide 50% financing to buyers at its resort-style development, Samana Golf Avenue in Dubai Studio City.
James said that the resort-style property, which features 183 studio apartments is "particularly interesting for end users in terms of short-term rentals."
Speaking about the 50% financing facility, James Gammon said: "With the banking sector offering mortgages only on 20% financing, we found that there is a lack [of funding] in the marketplace, making it difficult for end users to enter the property market."
He added: "The move by Samana Developers allowed end users and investors alike an opportunity to achieve their investment goals.
Samana Golf Avenue, which will host green spaces and water features once complete, reflects the developer's "push for sustainability and its overarching goal to achieve a resort-style living, that offers a sense of community," he added.
Through its projects, Samana Developers aims to "reduce carbon footprint as well as minimise operating costs and service charges for the owners and tenants of the building."
The developer is also tying in its sustainability efforts with its aim to adopt a design-build approach across projects, through the "implementation and installation of solar panels and heat-resistant glass wherever possible, recycling water, and incorporating light-sensitive activity, while ensuring zero wastage on building products."
James Gammon revealed in the podcast that the year began on a "rocky note" for the developer, owing to the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, he stated that Samana Developers is on track with all project deliveries, in addition to a fourth project to be launched in September-October.
