CarlStahl, producer of standardised fastening systems for lightweight membrane coverings, sees strong interest for its product in the region on the back of an increasing use of such PVC-based covering, with interest being strongest in Iran.

“Iran has a big backlog of projects, and its architects are very open to new solutions,” says Thomas Krieger, manager at Tennect, the CarlStahl unit producing the fastening system.

The construction industry in the region as a whole is starting to realise the benefits of membrane covering, say Krieger. Amongst those are cost savings as well as increased flexibility of the structure as compared to concrete.

CarlStahl who produce an array of products, have come to the Big 5 exhibition specifically to market the Tennect fastening system.

While the product has not sold yet, Krieger says that the response to the system has been “unbelievable”.

The system is the only one of its kind worldwide, and has proven to be extremely adjustable, thus providing more stability.
While Krieger expects Asian companies plagiarise its product, he believes the quality control for big projects in the region is too rigid for low quality products to come into consideration.
