The president of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a $100m grant to build a 260-bed hospital in the western Syrian governate of Homs.

A memorandum of understanding between the UAE and Syrian Arab Republic was signed yesterday in Damascus by Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director General of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation and Amir Husni Lutfi, Chairman of the Syrian Planning and International Cooperation Authority.

Also present during the ceremony were UAE Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and Syrian Finance Minister Mohammed Al Hussain.
