Manama mall to get $6.6m makeover

Project will be completed in 10 stages while mall remains open

Manama’s Seef Mall is to undergo a $6.6m refurbishment, officials have announced.

The project will see the mall’s atriums, food courts, cafe area and corridors overhauled, and modern conveniences like wireless internet services, updated designs, new lighting and more seating for shoppers.

The work will be completed at night so that the mall can remain operational during the day. It will be completed in 10 stages, and work is scheduled to be finished by December 2011.

The project will be managed by Baker Wilkins & Smith, a UK-based company with offices in Bahrain, Oman, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. The main contractor is Almoayyed Interiors, while interior design consultant Design Worldwide Partnership, structural consultant COWI and mechanical, engineering, plumbing consultant GEMAC are also key sub-contractors.
