Dulsco uses radio transmitters to monitor waste
Company is first in the region to use RFID in waste management
Dulsco Abu Dhabi has announced the introduction of smart tracking technology to improve the efficiency of the waste recycling processes at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
In a statement issued on the government press agency website WAM, Dulsco said it had become the first company in the UAE to incorporate RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology for waste management. The service also forms an integral part of ADNEC's "Re-use, Reduce Recycle" philosophy.
Dulsco says the RFID locators will considerably simplify and speed up the waste management processes at ADNEC, which stages in excess of 100 events each year.
Humaid Al Dhaheri, ADNEC's Director of Finance and HR, said: "We are very pleased to launch this project close on the heels of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) which was held at ADNEC. This project, launched in partnership with Dulsco, underscores ADNEC's ongoing environmental commitment. We will continue to invest in such initiatives in 2011 and beyond, and drive forward our sustainability agenda."
Mohammed Bilal Hasan, General Manager, Information Technology at Dulsco, said, "We took this bold initiative to incorporate RFID technology in our waste management process and developed a system based on ADNEC's requirements.”
