Substation for Siemens

The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and a consortium of Siemens AG Germany and Siemens Pakistan Engineering Company, have signed a contract for the construction of a new 500/220/132kV sub-station in Karachi.

The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and a consortium of Siemens AG Germany and Siemens Pakistan Engineering Company, have signed a contract for the construction of a new 500/220/132kV sub-station in Karachi.

The sub-station, with a capacity of 1200mVA, will help improve Wapda’s network and power supply in the Gujranwala area, which is administered by Gujranwala Electric Power Company.

The project, which is being financed by KFW, a German financial institution, will cost around US $643 million (INR3.9 billion) and will be completed by October 2008.
