US consultant a finalist for Qatar DC plant

Stanley Consultants of Muscatine, Iowa in the US is a finalist in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ 45th annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition for designing an integrated district cooling plant on Pearl Island near Doha, Qatar.

According to a news release, a “cutting-edge, low-cost, and environmentally-sustainable chilled water system is at the heart of the 130,000TR plant, the largest of its type in the world.”

The plant is among the first in the Middle East to be equipped with a desalination plant, designed to provide 30,000m3 of water a day. The facility also can draw water from a local utility and treated sewage effluent.

Stanley Consultants provides engineering, environmental, and construction services. It has offices in 12 states, Puerto Rico and overseas. Winners will be recognised at the annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on 1 April in Washington, DC.
