DWC and MITIE team up
Another UK FM service provider enters the market with a local partner.
Dubai World Central's (DWC) Infrastructure & Facility Management (I&FM) division have formed a strategic alliance with UK FM provider, MITIE Managed Services.
MITIE will provide DWC with a complete operating platform, systems and procedures that will enable DWC I&FM to manage, organise and provide services in an identical manner to MITIE's award winning operations in the UK.
Commenting on the agreement, Bruce Moult, senior manager of business development, I&FM, said: "For DWC I&FM's customers this means that the service they receive will be based upon the latest and best practices in the UK. It will be practiced to the highest standards of quality and safety. With an internationally recognised company supporting them, clients will feel a level of comfort, confidence and familiarity in an unfamiliar environment."
The announcement comes after months of negotiations between the two companies.
Key points of the agreement will include MITIE giving DWC I&FM a complete copy of its workbook modules and ISO accredited systems and procedures, while providing training in the use and implementation of them.
MITIE will also provide full and on-going support and updates to ensure that DWC are always at the forefront of innovation and improvement in the Middle East.
Mr. Rashed Buqaraa was appointed CEO of I&FM in 2006. "We are conscious of Dubai World Central's impact on the emirate's real estate offerings and have therefore, well in advance, established a highly effective facilities management system even before the first DWC building is complete in mid-2008.
"DWC's FM division is the first step of ensuring that we take care of the environment, energy, health and safety," he explained when commenting on I&FM. Dubai World Central (DWC) is a 140 square kilometre city-within-a-city taking shape at Jebel Ali, Dubai.
