More ice bars to hit the Mideast

More ice bars to hit the Middle East.

Sharaf Group, the mastermind behind Dubai's first ice bar, Chillout Lounge, has confirmed the bar's launch is just the start of its cool operations.

"We have plans throughout the Middle East and Asia to develop the concept. This will be happening within the next two years," confirmed Vaibhav Tandel, the bar's project manager.

Sharaf Group is working exclusively with American firm Ice Culture, the company that supplies the ice.

"We have tied up with them for the entire Middle East and Asia, they are number one," he added.

The large blocks of ice are made in America and then transported by ship. Because of their unique design and cold environment, the blocks can be moved around to create different designs and looks.

The Chillout Lounge is situated in the new Times Square shopping mall in Dubai.

A full case study of the Chillout Lounge can be found in the August issue of facilities management Middle East.
