Galfar-Larsen & Toubro JV lands $765m Salalah deal
Contract will see major redevelopment of Salalah international airport
A joint venture between Galfar Engineering and Contracting and Larsen & Toubro has inked a $765m deal to upgrade Salalah airport.
The deal covers the construction and civil works for the passenger terminal, the control tower, the service buildings and electronic systems and equipment and was signed by Transport and Communications Minister Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, and representatives from both companies.
Al Futaisi pointed out that the project will be a qualitative improvement in the civil aviation sector in the Sultanate in general and Dhofar Governorate in particular. He hoped that the project will have good economic yields that serve Omani citizens.
The project will take 30 months to complete and has been designed to compliment expansion work on cargo facilities at the Port of Salalah and the Salalah Free Zone.
