Hill International wins Qatar contract

The construction consulting firm has won $5.9 million deal to provide services for Doha mixed-use project.

Construction consulting firm Hill International, has won a $5.9 million (QAR 21.4 million) contract to provide project management services on a mixed-use project in Doha, Qatar.

According to a company spokesperson, the contract for the project, which is called Ur Street, is for 30 months.

The project will be made up of two mid-rise towers with commercial, retail, residential and hotel space, spread over 150,000m2.

The client on the project is Qatari property developer Barwa Real Estate Company, while French designer Philippe Starck is the architect.

"Hill International has extensive experience of building mixed-use facilities in the region," said Raouf S. Ghali, president of Hill International's Project Management Group (International).

"I am confident that we will help our client achieve success on this project."

Hill International is also working on the $140 million Bin Samikh Tower, a five-star hotel in Doha on behalf of Tanmiyat Real Estate, as well as the new Grand Hyatt Hotel and Villas, also in Doha, on behalf of Touristic Investment Company.

The company was awarded significant new task orders in May to provide construction management support services in connection with the Iraq Reconstruction Program.
