Developers claim The Dunes Golf Course should be ready to play by the end of the year.

Developers claim that The Dunes Golf Course, within Dubai Sports City is at an advanced stage, and should be ready to play by the end of the year.

Set for an official opening in December 2007, there will be time between completion and opening to allow the course to mature, thereby providing a high quality playing surface.

The infrastructure required to support the 211-acre site is now ready. Almost 50km of piping are in place to provide irrigation, backed by a pump station capable of supplying the course with more than two million gallons of water every eight hours.

Almost two million m3 of earth have been moved to form the course and over 6,000 man hours have been spent shaping the course.

"We're extremely pleased with the results of everyone's commitment to this project," said Jeff O'Brien, Business Development Director, Septech Emirates. "Working on The Dunes has been a great opportunity to harness the latest technologies to the project of building a world class golfing venue," he added.

The Dunes is an 18-hole signature golf course, designed by Ernie Els, and will be the focal point of Victory Height in Dubai Sports City.
