Iran to open $830m Fars Shopping mall in Shiraz
New mall will be the biggest in the world, in terms of shop numbers
Royal Star International, a UAE-based conglomerate, has announced the completion of its $830 million Fars Shopping Complex in Shiraz, Iran, which will be the world’s biggest mall in terms of the number of shops.
The mall will have 2,500 shops for lease upon its opening in September 2011. At 420,000m2, it will also be the world’s fourth biggest mall in terms of total area, closely following the Dubai Mall.
The project will also house a five-star hotel, exhibition and convention centre and an outdoor amusement park called Iran Land featuring roller coaster rides.
Constructed on a 150,000m2 plot of land in Sadra, Shiraz, the project will also house a 14,000m2 hypermarket, six 240-seat cinemas and a 28,000m2 arcade.
The Burj Fars Hotel is scheduled to be opened towards the end of 2012. The superstructure of the tower has been completed and it is currently undergoing an internal fit out. Standing at 150 metres high, the hotel is set to be the tallest building in Sharaz. The five star hotel will be operated by a major Italian hotel operator, though no further details were provided.
