New regional consultancy goes green
As awareness of green buildings increases, TECOM launch the Sustainable Design Consultancy.
A green building consultancy aimed at providing building solutions to the UAE and neighboring regions, has been launched by TECOM Investments' Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK).
Sustainable Design Consultants (SDC) will offer advice and guidance to project developments from the design stage through to operations.
Ali bin Towaih, director of the Energy and Environment Park, said: "We will cover things like the sustainability aspects from the development characteristics of the site, to the efficiency of water and consumption, as well as the materials and resources employed, through to the indoor environmental quality."
The consultancy has a dedicated team of Leadership in Energy and Environment (LEED) certified and energy management specialists working with them.
When asked what involved SDC will have with FM companies, Towaih replied: "We are currently dealing with Idama and definitely foresee the company (SDC) working with its clients' service providers."
The company is also currently offering advice on nearly 70 buildings in Dubai, including the new International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), DuBiotech and Dubai Studio City. All of which have been designed in accordance with the LEED guidelines.
SDC has confirmed that fixtures and fittings will be included in the thought process.
"The appropriate selection and choice, whether they relate to plumbing or lighting, definitely have a marked impact on the consumption of a building," added Towaih.
Abdullatif Almulla, CEO of TECOM Investments, said: "Sustainable Design Consultants provides not only the local experience of implementing green building certification, but also a durable overall value to the community with a regenerative way of building."
