Avireal-Farnek win Abu Dhabi contract
Lagoon Club Development will include FM consultancy and energy management at design stage.
Avireal - Farnek has been awarded the contract to provide facilities and energy management consultancy services to Abu Dhabi's Lagoon Club development.
"This is an exciting contract as facilities management is not a subject widely understood in this region. Getting involved early in the design stage is encouraging," said David Graham, general manager, Farnek Services.
The contract will ensure energy efficiency and low-life cycle costs are considered in planning expenditure, in the early development stages.
"The main idea is cutting down on life-cycle costs. This can be everything from the acquisition of the land, construction of the building and maintenance, every cost put into building," added Graham.
Situated on Abu Dhabi's corniche, The Lagoon Club will be a mixed-used development comprising furnished apartments, office space and retail.
"The investor of the development based the building's idea around life cycle costs. We provide consultancy for facilities management to get cost effective results," commented Markus Oberlin, general manager, Avireal.
Other facilities include a convention centre, health club, spa and lagoon on the beach. The development is set to be completed around September 2009.
"We, as a FM company, will make sure the building runs properly. We are excited because we are in at the beginning of this development. We can influence it and show people how you can make savings," added Graham.
