First master-planned development for Sharjah
Construction imminent at Phase One of Al Zahia, comprising 42 villas
Sharjah Holding is developing the first master-planned residential community in Sharjah, touted as a new concept for the emirate.
“We are looking at developing a master-planned community, the first gated community in Sharjah,” says Khalifa Bin Braik, VP of asset management and business development. “It has access to Emirates Road and connectivity to University City and Sharjah Airport.
“You have around 950,000 people living in Sharjah, and 40% of that are Arab expats. Recent statistics have suggested that 33% of the UAE’s industrial GDP comes from Sharjah alone.
"A lot of Arab expats have invested in industrial activities and have their factories in Sharjah. It makes perfect sense for them to have their residences there, and we are committed to providing them with high-quality accommodation they can own," says Bin Braik.
“We have started construction of the road that takes you to the sales centre and the 42 villas which are part of our Phase One. We have obtained all the tenders back, and are currently assessing, reviewing and hoping to finalise after Ramadan.
"The other 50% of our time we are focusing on the demands of the communities, which resulted in our developing the Matajer neighbourhood shopping mall,” says Bin Braik. “We aim to have four neighbourhood malls operational by the middle of next year.”
Established in 2008, Sharjah Holding is a strategic JV between Majid Al Futtaim Properties and the government of Sharjah.
