ESD to design building systems for world's tallest tower
ESD (Environmental Systems Design) has won a contract to design the building system for Saudi’s newest treasure, the Kingdom Tower.
At over 1000m high, the Kingdom Tower is set to be the world’s tallest tower. The structure will feature a luxury hotel, office space, serviced apartments, condominiums and an observation deck.
ESD's executive vice president, Mehdi Jalayerian, said, “We are proud to work on this iconic project. ESD has specialised knowledge on design and operation of supertall buildings and this project utilizes our core focus in the area of high performance and innovative technical integration that maximizes system operational efficiency for such facilities.
The contract, which was won following a highly competitive tendering process, will see ESD design energy-efficient building systems, organised vertically in accordance with occupancy. ESD is also providing MEP and fire protection engineering, along with delivering integrated consulting services for teledata, audio/visual, security and acoustics.
“As consulting engineers for building systems, our designs must always coordinate and adapt to specific facility operational requirements. We work closely with facility operators and managers to integrate our systems’ designs that provide for energy efficiency and simplicity in operation and maintenance during the life of project, said Jalayerian.
