A $20m, 30-month subcontract to supply, install, test and commission the ELV systems at the new Hamad Medical City project in Qatar has been awarded to Turkish MEP contractor Anel Electrical, under an agreement with Hyundai Engineering & Construction.

The scope of works includes telecoms, structured cabling, fire alarm and public address, access control and security management, CCTV, nurse call, master time control and audio visual.

Hamad Medical Corporation is delivering and equipping three major hospitals at Medical City, including an all-new ambulatory and minimally invasive surgery hospital, a women’s hospital and a rehabilitation hospital, as well as a translational research centre.

The entire complex will have a built-up area of 216,000m2 and more than 500 beds. Handover is scheduled for December 2013.

Established in Qatar since 2006, and part of the Anel Group, Anel Electrical is currently involved with the New Doha International Airport (packages CP18 and CP29). It is also finalising electrical and ELV works at the Qatar Foundation Education City Convention Centre.

“The successful award of key projects in Qatar is testament to the hard work and dedicated team that we have within our organisation,” said Paul McFarlane, Anel country manager for Qatar.

However, now that we have been successful in our efforts, this will bring Anel into a new chapter of its Qatari operations, where we will look to continue working an enhancing our business operations with key developers, clients and contractors in the region,” said McFarlane.
