The Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) has confirmed to facilities management Middle East that it will launch academic real estate courses starting from October 2007.

"We have three types of courses, academic, executive education and customised. Based on demand for the custom course, we design it to suit requirements," said Dr. Mohamed Abdullatif Al Shehi, managing director, DREI.

The first real estate course to be launched will cost US $6,806 (AED 25,000) and consist five modules taught over five months. The initial 40 places are already full.

An agreement with the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, will enable the two institutions to offer students a certified graduate diploma once the course is completed.

Courses have been supported by several shareholders with Sama Dubai being the largest.
