Green Sheikh campaigns for environmental awareness
Sheikh prepares for Green Middle East 2011 forum presentation
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, also known as the ‘Green Sheikh’ for his passion and concern for the environment embarked on a tour around Bee’ah’s waste management facility in the run up to Green Middle East 2011.
The Sheikh, who visited the material recovery facility, the construction and demolition waste recycling facility, and tyre recycling facility among others, holds a phD in Industrial Ecosystems and and a Masters in Environmental Science.
“It’s inspirational to see these pioneering facilities which Bee’ah has invested in to bring a modern waste management system to the UAE,” he commented. “About two-thirds of the population of the UAE is unsure about its carbon footprint, let alone the available recycling centres available in our country. I am very proud and look forward to working with Bee’ah to establish even more innovative and creative projects for our nation to the better outcome of our environment.”
The Green Sheikh will be taking part in the Forum for Environmental Change at Green Middle East 2011 on October 17th at the Sharjah Expo Centre, where he will discuss the government’s role in protecting the environment, business’ roles from CSR to (CER) corporate environmental responsibility and how individuals can help lead an environmentally sustainable lifestyle to protect the UAE’s natural environment.
