ANALYSIS, Design

210 North is the very latest addition to the Reno club scene thanks to the work of Charles Doell of Mr Important Design.

With recognised projects such as San Francisco bars Mercury and Backflip behind him, Doell has completely reformed the former restaurant to create a glamorous yet modern space through a mix of clever lighting and stylish materials.

An escalator encased by 30ft aluminium chains and lit by hundreds of bell-shaped lampshades, each containing colour-changing LED pods, funnels guests up to the 13,000 ft² club where two bars and two VIP lounges await.

The centrepiece Divinity Lounge is decorated with chrome curtains, velvet loveseats and a white marble bar, but it is the blown glass chandelier by London artist Eva Menz that really sets the tone.

Consisting of 5000 individual glass pieces shaped into a free-form 3D wave, the lighting feature morphs into different colours with the use of four Elation Vision Colour changers.

A laminated frosted glass projection wall that screens electronic art is a feature of the club's other bar. Describing his vision for 210 North, Doell said: "I wanted people to be immersed in a glamorous space, not just a clubby space - glamour of the old school variety."
