A joint venture of Al Masaood Bergum (AMB) and the Netherland's Hertel has won a US $17 million (AED62.5 million) turnkey contract from Talisman Energy Norge AS to design, build and install worker accommodation in the North Sea.

The JV will install the accommodation unit on an offshore 'mobile production unit with storage' (Mopustor) on the Yme fields. "The accommodation, which will be built for Talisman Energy, will follow very stringent quality standards," said Steve McConnachie, AMB general manager. "Our Dubai and Jebel Ali facilities will be fabricating the accommodation unit, which will then be shipped to the Yme fields for installation."

The five-and-a-half storey worker-housing unit, with a total floor area of 2600m², will be completely 'A60' rated and will be designed and constructed to include an aluminum helicopter deck.

"The entire contract will take 174,000 man hours and will be done to the exact standards necessary for offshore accommodation," added McConnachie.

The project, due for completion by the second quarter of 2008 will house 55 individuals in single occupancy bedrooms, with amenities including a gym, sauna, laundry area and lounges.
