Al Saad General Construction has been awarded a US $28 million (SAR106million) from Emaar Economic City to build a management and services complex at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The work includes a three-floor administration building, a two-floor light industry building, a four-floor dormitory, a mosque, an electric substation and external works. Abdulaouf Mannaa, managing director, Emaar EC said: "The contract with Al Saad is an important step in the construction of the Industrial Zone of KAEC, which has already opened to strong investor response."

Over 44 million m² of land is dedicated to industrial units, plastic conversion industries and light manufacturing facilities. Facilities include homes for employees and their families, incubators and light industrial modules to encourage local start-ups.

Other construction contracts awarded for the development over the last six months include Saudi Oger's $131 million contract for four residential towers; a $13.8 million deal with the International Centre for Commerce and Contracting for the construction of KAEC's resort villas and its main entrance gate, and a contract with Saudi Bin Ladin Group for the construction of the project's first residential appartments.
