Cummins Qatar has announced it is open for business after a merger between Jaidah Heavy Equipment and the US-based engine manufacturer Cummins Inc.

Jaidah Heavy Equipment is a subsidiary of Jaidah Group – widely considered to be one of the most influential and successful conglomerates operating in Qatar.

Jaidah Heavy Equipment had been the sole supplier and official dealer for Cummins Inc. in the liquid-natural-gas rich state for more than 20 years.

As demand increased for Cummins’ products, the two companies decided that full partnership in the guise of a new enterprise was the way to go.

“Jaidah Group has been representing Cummins in Qatar for some time and seen demand for its products steadily rise,” said Jaidah Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Bengt Schultz.

“For this reason, both parties felt the time was right to form a new company featuring the Cummins name to exploit the value inherent in such a strong brand name for mutual benefit.

“Cummins Qatar is going to fuse the world’s finest engine products with Jaidah’s servicing expertise and deep knowledge of the local market to make an irresistible overall package for our customers.

“It’s an exciting and pivotal beginning, and we’re looking forward to it greatly.”

Cummins Qatar is operating out of a renovated showroom and workshop in Doha’s Industrial Area.

Cummins’ products include engines and related technologies, fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems.

The Doha facility will also house a technical area for the provision of after-sales service.

“This new venture is a natural fit for both parties,” said Tim Worme, General Manager of Cummins Qatar.

“Cummins wants to maximise its profile in the rapidly-expanding Qatari market and Jaidah are the perfect partners to enable Cummins Qatar to do this.

“The Doha showroom is the ideal platform for Cummins products and we’re confident about meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

“We see this exciting and groundbreaking venture as a resounding vote of confidence in this dynamic country,” said Worme.
