Hole in one for Troon Golf
A Dubai golf course will get specialist facilities management attention.
An American golf-course management company is to provide facilities management to the Dunes golf course in Dubai.
Troon Golf will provide maintenance and management services, after golf course contractor Septech Emirates officially handed over the course to Victory Heights.
"The handover means Septech has fulfilled most of the obligations of its contract, so the facility has been handed over to us.
"The construction work has been completed and we are now going to take it to the operational phase," said Mark Chapleski, area managing director, Troon Golf.
"We will manage the clubhouse, maintenance facilities and all on-course operations, including on-course buildings, halfway-house comfort stations and practice facilities," said Chapleski.
The company will also manage more than 350,000m2 of grass and some 3,200m of drainage piping, including 283 draining pits, 92 bunkers and 9km of concrete interlock-tile cart path.
Water efficiency is top of the list for Troon Golf.
With the course requiring a large amount of water for landscaping, the company plans to feed the course and surrounding vegetation with recycled waste water.
"We are proud of our energy efficient models and we make sure we reduce water consumption when watering the grass. We have gone green and stress that idea," expressed Chapleski.
Operations at Troon Golf are gearing up with over 50 employees expected to be in place by October. The course is expected to be operational by February 2008.
The Dunes golf course is part of Victory Heights villa community, residents will have access to a tennis academy, country club and spa.
