The Mayor of Jeddah, Dr. Hani Abu Ras, will officially inaugurate The Big 5 Saudi 2012, which will take place in Jeddah from 10 to 13 March.

With budgets for projects in Saudi's construction sector totalling $1.1tn at present, more than 500 exhibitors from over 35 countries will be showcasing their expertise during the four-day event.

The Mayor will meet with international dignitaries before taking a guided tour of the event, which takes place for the second consecutive year.

It has doubled in size in order to accommodate demand from the building and construction industry. The tour will include the second purpose-built hall erected by show organisers especially for the event.

Andy White, event director, The Big 5 Saudi, said: "Having doubled the size of the event in only its second year is a significant reflection on the influence of the Saudi construction market across the globe."

With $60bn allocated for the construction of buildings at present in Saudi Arabia, international companies from across the globe will be utilising The Big 5 Saudi to showcase their products and network with the industry.
