Algeco, Byrne win Qatar building rental contract
Oryx GTL contract is largest office installation delivered to date
A contract for a temporary office building for Oryx GTL of Qatar has been secured by Algeco and Byrne. This is the largest office installation delivered by the companies to date. It includes a five-year service period, during which modules will be delivered as needed.
The building consists of forty-four 4000KD modules, which will be configured as 22 units a floor in a G+1 configuration. The ground units will be used as an on-site clinic and emergency area, while the upper building is mainly office space.
Modules are currently being assembled for the site and plans are for the building to be up and running by early March. They will be erected within a 14- to 21-day period. The project will require stringent HSE protocols on-site to conform to Oryx health and safety standards.
The turnkey project will involve sub-contracting the civil works, IT and fire-detection solutions to approved Oryx vendors. Power to the building for the entire rental term will also be supplied.
Jim Muldoon, GCC GM of Algeco, said: “We have had a hugely successful year working with Byrne in the UAE, which enabled us to expand in Qatar. This latest customer win is testament to this, and we are looking forward to delivering solutions for Oryx GTL."
Graeme Clack, Byrne CEO, said: "The relationship between Algeco Byrne in Qatar is going from strength to strength. This agreement with Oryx GTL is the latest success in Qatar."
The companies have announced further expansion for 2012, and are already in discussion regarding several other GCC countries.
Algeco, a leading global supplier of modular space and secure storage rental and sales solutions, extended its UAE agreement with Byrne Rental last November.
