Shaza Hotels has announced plans to build the Shaza Salalah in Oman, a beach-side development adjacent to a protected mangrove reserve expected to open in 2016.

Shaza Salalah comprises 81 luxury villas with private pools, 80 furnished hotel apartments, and 130 hotel rooms facing the Indian Ocean, many coming with private ‘sky pools’. The property will also unveil the largest luxury ballroom in Salalah, retail outlets, two specialty restaurants and a hamman and spa.

“Salalah has so far been Oman’s best kept secret on the worldwide tourism map and I firmly believe Shaza Salalah will enhance the luxury travel experience not only in Salalah but the entire Sultanate of Oman by setting a new benchmark. Ultimately, our goal is to invite the world to experience the legendary Omani hospitality, and the natural beauty that Salalah is gifted with,” said Suleiman Al Harthy, CEO at the involved Taameer Investment.

Construction will begin in Q4 of 2012 with completion anticipated in 2016.

Shaza Salalah is the first beach resort development to be announced by Shaza Hotels, which has two existing hotels in Medina and Sarajevo, and a further two under construction in Marrakesh and Karbala.

Salalah is known for its pristine white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and the annual monsoon rains known as the Khareef. Salalah is also known as the ‘perfume capital of Arabia’, renowned for its historic frankincense trade.

Shaza Hotels, is a five-star hotel operator supported by Kempinski and Guidance Hotel Investment.
