Triumph For APID

Every industry seems to have an Association - a neutral body whose primary purpose is to protect the industry from reputation-sapping imposters and create a community where members can share ideas, raise potential concerns and be a forum for powering the industry forward.

COMMENT, Design

Every industry seems to have an Association - a neutral body whose primary purpose is to protect the industry from reputation-sapping imposters and create a community where members can share ideas, raise potential concerns and be a forum for powering the industry forward. The regional association for interior design professionals, APID, started off as a labour of love for a handful of Dubai-based designers who saw the need for a dedicated organisation who hosted design events and meetings committed to educating, informing and supporting the industry.

This week three of the founding members of APID: Kenneth Laidler, Dr. John Alexander Smith and Hazem El-Khatib flew to Korea to present APID's case for membership to the IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers). They returned triumphant. APID is the first Association from an Arab country to be awarded international recognition from the IFI and has instantly catapulted APID's status from a devoted collection of local designers to an industry body that has the support and network of over 25,000 designers from 45 countries worldwide.
