CECE publishes guide to tower crane safety
The Committee for European Construction Equipment (CECE) has published a booklet titled ‘What is a “Safe” tower crane?’, which aims to aid identification of non-compliant tower cranes.
According to Dr Peter Schiefer, CEO of Wolffkran and Chairman of CECE Section III, the booklet describes the essential criteria which are checked during safety inspections on tower cranes. The brochure also includes manufacturers’ recommendations to increase safety, as well as references on the legislation in force in the main European manufacturing countries.
Topics include how to ensure tower cranes are safely erected and dismantled, how to identify qualified personnel, and how to ensure the tower crane is properly inspected and maintained.
