London tastes Jumeirah

New Jumeirah hotel planned for London set to attract more tourists

Jumeirah, the luxury hospitality group and member of Dubai Holding, has been selected to create a luxurious 51 storey glass tower hotel in London.

The mixed-use Jumeirah Hotel at Beetham Tower will be situated in Southwark, next to the Thames river.

It will comprise residential apartments and luxury hotel accommodation.

“This tremendous project enables us to work with the developers to plan for and ultimately deliver what will be one of the worlds most unique luxury hospitality experiences, said Gerald Lawless, CEO of Jumeirah Group.

The agreement with Beetham Organisation is subject to planning permission.

If approved, the tower will stand at 180 metres high and cost £600 million to build.

It will have 261 rooms/suites, a ballroom that will accommodate large-scale conference and banqueting events catering up to 800 people, plus a number of smaller meeting venues.

A state of the art spa, health and leisure facility will be located on the 26th and 27th floor with stunning views across the capital.

The hotel will open in 2001 and is expected to be a major tourist attraction for visitors to the 2012 Olympic games.

Ian Simpson Architects have designed the tower.
