Rixos Hotel at The Palm Jumeirah has introduced a natural cleaning detergent in the hotel  which it claims is safer for  the environment.

The UltraShield Maintain product breaks down and removes biofilm, fat, grease, uric acid scale (a urine deposit that produces stains and offensive odours) and lime scale from shower heads, toilets, urinals, drains, washrooms, and downstream cold water pipes.

Bosco Miranda, the hotel's maintenance manager said: “I have been using UltraShield Maintain in my previous hotel, where we have initially tested the product under heavy duty conditions. We have found that Maintain is a very gentle dechalker, perfectly suited for the periodic deep-cleaning of our shower heads. It does not affect the metal of the installations nor is the cause of skin irritation for my staff."

UltraShield Maintain contains saphrophytic and acidophylic microbes on a mineral powder support which targets scale, organic waste and grease. The organisms are safe for marine life, animals, humans and the environment.

The cleaning product uses bio-technology designed to clean without the need for rodding, jetting or harsh toxic chemicals.

Natural micro-organisms digest and degrade scale, fat, grease, tartar and organic sulphur compounds into basic mineral elements: water and CO2, which can be disposed of safely into the environment. Biodegrading the scale, grease and waste also removes the causes of the blockages and nasty smells.

Jan Willem Van Es, managing director of Saham Star General Trading LLC (distributor of UltraShield Bio-Active products in GCC) said: "All our products and services are always in support with implementing green standards and improving the quality of life in Dubai and the other regions where we supply UltraShield.”
