China Harbour has won the contract to design and build a $50m second container terminal at the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

The development of the terminal is part of ongoing expansion works at the Dammam Port.

The $50m project involves construction of a container terminal to the west of the existing port complex and a 600m-long 16m-deep quay wall.

The dock will be accompanied by 450,000m2 of onshore facilities with a total capacity of three million twenty-foot-equivalent Units (TEU).

The Saudi Global Ports Company project is expected to be completed by August, 2014.
