My career... Lana McGhee
Lana McGhee from Randstad MENA talks about life in the FM industry
When did you get into the FM industry and what attracted you to it?
I have recently joined Lauren Backhouse and her team at Randstad MENA, working across the facilities management market. We specialise in facilities, operations, property management and sales.
FM is one of the fastest growing sectors across the Middle East; it’s an industry that will be here in the MENA region for a very long time. Due to the success and growth particularly within Randstad, I was instantly attracted to this sector.
What were you doing before entering this field?
Based in Scotland, I was the top biller of my office managing a temporary business for manufacturing professionals across the industrial market. The market was very demanding with high volume recruitment — key skills required for FM clients in this region.
So far, what’s the best thing about the industry?
I have found everyone is open to talk about the industry, which has led me into gaining a clearer understanding of the culture of FM professionals. FM is a great industry for personalities; it’s a growing market that we can be a part of and develop by attracting the right candidates for key clients.
Any advice for a young person starting out in FM?
