US $408 contract for NCC Harmony to be awarded next month

NCC Urban Infrastructure, a subsidiary of India based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCCL) has said it will award the US $191 million (AED700 million) main construction package for its mixed use freehold development at Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech) next month.

The new $408 million development called NCC Harmony will be a 210,000m2 project built on a total land area of about 17,650m2 at DuBiotech.

Construction has already begun with a $16.3 million contract for excavation, piling and shoring been awarded to Dutch Foundation and Concrete Processing Company.

 

Slated for completion in May 2010, the development will encompass two 32-level towers - one residential and one hotel apartment - with studio, single-bedroom and double-bedroom apartments offering fully-equipped accommodation.

Speaking to Construction Week, Narayana Raju Alluri, managing director of NCC Urban said: "We have not awarded the main construction contract as yet as we are still assessing the short list that we have drawn up. However, by next month we plan to award the main contract including the sub contracts like the MEP one."

The project, to be fully sustainable and environmental friendly, will be equipped with a health club, spa and pool area, spread over 4,924m2 making it one of biggest health facilities in Dubai till date.

The consultant and project manager on the project is UAE based Islamic architects.

Tecom Investments is the master developers of DuBiotech.

NCC Urban currently has development projects comprising villas, apartments, townships, IT parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), hotels and commercial complexes in various Indian cities.
