Nikken Architects, the world's largest architecture and engineering firm, has turned its attention to Dubai in the construction of its next green building.

To be officially launched in early November, Nikken introduced the Dubai Maritime City Landmark Tower at October's Cityscape Dubai. "In Japan we have very advanced green technology. We want to design buildings in Dubai that incorporate the Japanese-style of advanced engineering and ultimately save energy," says Akihiko Hamada, principal and senior executive officer of Nikken.

Although still in the schematic design stage, Dubai Maritime City Landmark Tower is slated to be 240 metres high and will save 30% of overall energy.
